Hugh Jackman Predicts Kate Hudson’s Oscar Triumph for Powerful Performance in Song Sung Blue

Date:

Hugh Jackman has voiced strong confidence in his Song Sung Blue co-star Kate Hudson, expressing that her latest performance could finally earn her an Academy Award. Appearing together at the 35th Gotham Awards in New York City, the veteran actor praised Kate’s craft and highlighted why he believes she stands out this awards season.

Jackman, who joined Hudson onstage as they accepted the inaugural Musical Tribute honor, described her as both a celebrated Hollywood icon and a dedicated performer capable of delivering award-winning depth. He shared that after witnessing her portrayal in Song Sung Blue, he feels this may be the moment she secures the long-awaited Oscar recognition.

The Gotham Awards, known for spotlighting excellence in independent cinema, marked an early milestone in the run-up to major events such as the Academy Awards, Golden Globes and SAG Awards. The ceremony also signaled the official beginning of the awards campaign for Song Sung Blue, a musical biopic inspired by the lives of Mike and Claire Sardina, the duo behind the Lightning & Thunder Neil Diamond tribute act.

Kate Hudson last received an Oscar nomination in 2001 for her acclaimed role in Almost Famous. Over the years, she has built an impressive and varied filmography with titles such as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Fool’s Gold, The Killer Inside Me and Deepwater Horizon. Early screenings of Song Sung Blue at the American Film Institute Festival have already generated significant awards buzz, raising hopes of a long-awaited comeback in the Oscar race.

Speaking earlier this season at the Academy and Chanel Women’s Luncheon, Hudson remained humble about the rising excitement, saying she has learned to appreciate the journey rather than focus on predictions. She expressed gratitude for the warm reception and noted that she is simply enjoying the chance to share a film audiences are responding to with enthusiasm.

At the Gotham stage, Jackman also reflected on Hudson’s evolution since her breakout role, playfully noting the growth between her teenage star image and her commanding presence in Song Sung Blue. Hudson responded by praising Jackman’s support, adding that performing and harmonizing with him has been one of the highlights of her career, especially as the actor jokingly lifted their trophies like weights beside her.

With awards season gaining momentum, Song Sung Blue is positioned as one of the most-watched contenders, and both stars appear energized by the strong early momentum surrounding the project.
