The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced advanced smart inspection vehicles to enhance the safety of the Dubai Metro and tram systems. These new blue and white vehicles, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will be operational during a trial period. Their primary function is to monitor rail right-of-way areas, identifying damage, restricted activities, and other violations using sophisticated intelligence systems and cameras.
Abdulrahman Al Janahi, Director of Rail Right of Way at RTA’s Rail Agency, stated that this new technology would significantly improve inspection efficiency and help promptly address any issues, ensuring the metro and tram systems remain safe and reliable. He added, “The smart inspection vehicle uses artificial intelligence to keep up with rail network advancements. This innovation is expected to enhance the effectiveness of rail inspections, providing comprehensive coverage and timely reporting of anomalies.”
In addition to this initiative, the RTA recently announced a pilot operation for a similar technology designed to detect damage on Dubai traffic diversions. The new vehicle, equipped with AI, collects data and verifies the effectiveness of traffic diversions, reducing the time required for manual inspections by 70%.
