Tom Cruise is set to pull off another thrilling feat as he prepares to bridge the Paris and LA Games during the August 11 Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The renowned actor, famous for his daring stunts in the Mission Impossible series, is anticipated to make a significant appearance at the event.
Recently seen attending the victory ceremony of the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay at the Paris La Defense Arena, Cruise has been a notable presence at the ongoing international sports event. Reports suggest that he will be instrumental in passing the Olympic flag to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games, which are scheduled to take place from July 14 to 30, 2028.
While specifics of Cruise’s planned stunt remain undisclosed, sources indicate that viewers can expect an elaborate Hollywood-style production. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo will officially transfer the Olympic flag to LA Mayor Karen Bass during the ceremony.
TMZ, the first to break the news of Cruise’s involvement, reported that the actor might rappel down from the top of Stade de France, landing on the field with the Olympic flag. There is speculation that a stunt double may assist with the landing. Additionally, a pre-recorded film will likely be part of the broadcast, showcasing Cruise’s journey with the Olympic flag from France to Los Angeles, culminating in a skydive to the iconic Hollywood sign.
Cruise himself reportedly initiated discussions with the International Olympic Committee, proposing a series of stunts to symbolically connect the Paris and LA Games. This isn’t the first time Cruise has been involved with the Olympics; he previously helped carry the Olympic torch through Los Angeles in 2004 ahead of the Athens Summer Olympics.
