Blockbuster Horror Hit Weapons Confirms OTT Streaming Date in India

Date:

The critically acclaimed and commercially successful horror thriller Weapons, directed by Zach Cregger, is officially heading to OTT platforms in India. After creating a strong buzz during its theatrical run and becoming one of the highest-earning horror films of 2025, the film is now set to reach a wider audience through digital streaming. Indian viewers who missed the theatrical experience can stream Weapons on JioHotstar starting January 8, 2026.

The film features a powerful cast led by Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, whose performances played a major role in the movie’s success. With intense storytelling, unsettling suspense, and a gripping mystery, Weapons managed to impress critics and audiences alike, ultimately earning more than $260 million globally and ranking as the second-highest-grossing horror movie of the year.

Set in the fictional town of Maybrook, Weapons follows a disturbing mystery where 17 children mysteriously vanish on the same night without any explanation. Julia Garner portrays a schoolteacher who becomes the focus of suspicion as fear and paranoia spread through the town. As investigations deepen, unsettling truths begin to surface, making the film a chilling watch. Supporting roles by Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, Amy Madigan, Cary Christopher, and others add depth to the narrative.

The film also gained industry attention even before its release due to a fierce bidding war between major studios. New Line ultimately acquired the project for a reported $38 million, edging out Universal. Despite heavy competition and high expectations, Weapons delivered at the box office, cementing Zach Cregger’s reputation as a strong voice in modern horror cinema. With its OTT release now confirmed, the film is expected to gain renewed attention among Indian audiences.
