Elon Musk’s Dubai Loop Project First Two Stations Announced

Date:

Dubai is set to welcome a futuristic underground transportation system as Elon Musk’s Boring Company unveils the first two locations for the Dubai Loop. The project aims to ease city traffic with high-speed tunnels capable of transporting up to 20,000 passengers per hour. The first two stations will be located at Dubai International Financial Centre and Dubai Mall, according to Mattar Al Tayer Director General of the Roads and Transport Authority.

The Dhs2.5 billion Dubai Loop will initially span 17km feature 11 stations and offer direct travel with no stops at speeds of up to 160km/h. The system is expected to expand in future phases to accommodate multiple loops and increase passenger capacity to over 100,000 per hour. The project was first announced in 2025 and involves collaboration between Elon Musk the Dubai Government and RTA.

Elon Musk highlighted the convenience of the Dubai Loop describing it as a “wormhole” that allows rapid city travel. The tunnels will target high-traffic areas to reduce congestion and offer a year-round transport solution unaffected by weather. The Boring Company has prior experience with similar projects including the Las Vegas Loop an all-electric zero-emission underground transit system which has moved over 2 million passengers since 2021.

The Dubai Loop promises to transform urban mobility in the city providing a fast safe and low-cost alternative to traditional road transport while modernizing the city’s public transit infrastructure.
