Daily life in Dubai continues with a mix of limited disruptions and normal operations as authorities prioritise public safety across the UAE. While air travel has faced significant adjustments following temporary airspace restrictions many parts of the city remain open and functioning as usual. Airports
At Dubai International Airport a phased and limited return of flights began on the evening of March 2. Officials have stressed that passengers should only head to the airport if directly contacted by their airline. Emirates has suspended scheduled services but continues to arrange select repatriation flights for contacted travellers. flydubai has resumed partial operations. A reduced number of airport outlets including Dubai Duty Free and McDonald’s are available for departing passengers.
Beaches
Public beaches across the city remain accessible. According to Dubai Municipality locations such as Jumeirah 1 Jumeirah 2 Jumeirah 3 Umm Suqeim 1 and Umm Suqeim 2 are open to visitors maintaining regular hours. Beachgoers can continue to enjoy outdoor leisure activities as normal.
Gyms and fitness
Fitness facilities are largely operating without interruption. Privilee is fully functional again after a brief outage giving members access to numerous pools and gyms. Major fitness brands including Fitness First Middle East remain open. Emaar community gyms and Veo Fitness branches are also welcoming members as usual.
Malls and retail
Shopping centres throughout Dubai continue business as usual. The Dubai Mall remains open daily welcoming residents and tourists. Other destinations such as Dubai Hills Mall Souk Al Bahar Nad Al Sheba Mall Palm Jumeirah Mall and Dragon Mart are trading normally although large scale activations are limited. Mall of the Emirates operates between 10am and 1am with a continued focus on visitor wellbeing.
Outdoor attractions
Some major attractions remain temporarily closed as precautionary measures. Global Village has suspended operations until further notice. Ain Dubai is closed to visitors while Dubai Parks and Resorts including Riverland Real Madrid World LEGOLAND and Motiongate has also paused entry for guests. Visitors are advised to check official channels before planning outings.
Restaurants
Most dining venues across the city are serving guests as usual particularly within open malls and hotel properties. A small number of independent fine dining venues have opted to pause temporarily. Hospitality assets managed by Emaar continue operating supported by contingency planning and coordination with authorities.
Education
The Ministry of Education UAE has moved public and private schools as well as universities to distance learning until Friday March 6. Students teachers and administrative teams are working remotely while the situation is reviewed. Further decisions will depend on regional developments.
