Ola Electric unveiled its latest range of electric two-wheelers, the Roadster series, at the Sankalp 2024 event in Tamil Nadu on August 15. The event showcased three new electric bikes: Roadster Pro, Roadster X, and Roadster. The Roadster Pro is a premium performance-centric option priced at Rs. 2 lakh, while the other two models cater to more budget-conscious buyers. All models come with various battery pack options. Alongside the new bikes, Ola announced updates to MoveOS 5, advancements in battery technologies, and introduced Krutrim, its AI chatbot.

The entry-level Roadster X starts at Rs. 74,999 and is available with 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh, and 4.5kWh battery options. The mid-tier Roadster begins at Rs. 1,04,999 for the 3.5kWh variant, with higher capacity options up to 6kWh. Pre-bookings for both Roadster X and Roadster have started, and deliveries will commence in January 2025. The high-end Roadster Pro starts at Rs. 1,99,999 for the 8kWh battery pack, with a 16kWh option priced at Rs. 2,49,999. Deliveries for the Roadster Pro will begin by Diwali 2025.

The Roadster Pro boasts a top speed of 194 kilometers per hour and a range of up to 579km per charge with the 16kWh battery. It uses Ola’s new 4680 Bharat Cell, which promises five times more energy, faster charging, and a longer range than traditional 2170 lithium-ion cells. The bike features a liquid-cooled motor producing 52kW peak power and 102nm of torque, achieving 0-40kmph in 1.2 seconds. It includes adaptive cruise control, a 10-inch touchscreen, 5G connectivity, dual-disc brakes, automated heated and cooling seats, and Krutrim AI chatbot capabilities. Safety features include ADAS, cornering ABS, traction control, and three driving modes: Race, Rain, and Urban. The bike also features wheelie and stoppie prevention and an emergency SOS alert system.

The Roadster X, the entry-level model, includes LED headlamps, a 4.3-inch TFT display, front disc brakes, and navigation capabilities. It has a range of up to 200km and a top speed of 124kmph, with safety features like geo-fencing, TPMS, tamper and fall-detection alerts, and time-fencing. It offers three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, with a 0-40kmph time of 4 seconds.

The mid-tier Roadster enhances the Roadster X with a 6.8-inch TFT display, double-spoke alloy wheels, Krutrim voice assistant, smart park, group navigation, and a DIY mode. It has an IP67-rated battery with a range of up to 248km and a top speed of 126kmph, powered by a 13kW motor. It also features dual disk brakes and an additional Hyper mode.

In the Indian two-wheeler EV market, the Ola Electric Roadster series will compete with entry-level bikes like the Tork Kratos R and Revolt RV400, and high-performance motorcycles like Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 and Matter Aera.
