Hardik Pandya targets decade-long India career after T20 World Cup triumph, aims for more ICC glory

Date:

Hardik Pandya has made it clear that he is far from finished with international cricket. Following India’s emphatic victory over New Zealand national cricket team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final, the star all-rounder revealed his ambition to represent India for another ten years and help the team secure many more global titles.

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, defeated New Zealand by a massive 96-run margin at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday to clinch the T20 World Cup title. With the victory, the Men in Blue achieved a historic milestone by successfully defending the championship and becoming the first team to lift the trophy on home soil.

Throughout the tournament, Pandya played a crucial role with both bat and ball. The experienced all-rounder delivered key performances whenever the team needed him, showcasing his value as one of India’s most dependable match-winners.

Speaking after the victory, Pandya said he believes he still has a long international career ahead. At 32, he considers himself only halfway through his journey in cricket and is determined to continue contributing at the highest level.

Pandya also acknowledged that he now carries the responsibility of being one of the senior figures in the squad. He expressed his desire to guide younger players and help maintain the team’s winning momentum in the coming years.

According to the all-rounder, winning trophies remains his biggest motivation. While he hopes to secure several titles across tournaments, he emphasised that international championships mean the most to him and remain his primary target.

The cricketer also spoke about the positive influence of his girlfriend, Maheika Sharma, saying her presence in his life has coincided with a successful period in his career. Pandya added that discipline, hard work and staying focused have been key factors behind India’s continued success.

During the 2026 T20 World Cup campaign, Pandya delivered strong performances with the bat, scoring two half-centuries against Namibia national cricket team and Zimbabwe national cricket team, while also picking up nine wickets in the tournament.

With his confidence high after another World Cup triumph, Pandya is now looking ahead to future international events, hoping to add several more ICC trophies to India’s growing cabinet.
