A Mosquito in the Ear Starring Jake Lacy and Nazanin Boniadi Secures North America Release for Spring

An emotionally driven indie drama featuring Jake Lacy and Nazanin Boniadi is set to reach audiences soon, as A Mosquito in the Ear prepares for its theatrical rollout in North America this spring.

The film has been acquired by Persimmon, which secured the rights following the movie’s debut at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The project earned recognition at the festival, taking home the Panavision Spirit Award for Independent Cinema, highlighting its impact within the indie film circuit.

Directed by Nicola Rinciari, the story is adapted from a real-life inspired graphic novel by Andrea Ferraris. The narrative follows a couple Andrew and Daniela who travel to India to bring home their adopted daughter Sarvari. However, the journey becomes emotionally complex when the child resists leaving, creating tension and uncertainty within the family dynamic.

Young actor Ruhi Pal plays a pivotal role, adding depth to a story that explores identity belonging and the emotional challenges tied to cross cultural adoption.

The film is backed by a team of producers including Emily Dillard Darren Dean Ali K Rizvi Frank Hall Green Stephen Stanley and Jomon Thomas, with production taking place in India under the supervision of Lasutra Pictures.

Speaking about the project, director Nicola Rinciari shared his excitement about bringing the film to a wider audience, emphasizing its exploration of relationships shaped by cultural differences and personal identity.

Persimmon representatives also expressed enthusiasm, highlighting the powerful on-screen chemistry between the lead actors and the film’s ability to balance emotional depth with engaging storytelling.

The deal for the film was negotiated by the UTA Independent Film Group, while international sales are being handled by Fandango, with the project already gaining traction across global markets.

Following its successful premiere, the film is scheduled to appear at several upcoming festivals including Bari International Film Festival Annapolis Film Festival and Miami Film Festival.

With strong performances and a compelling narrative at its core, A Mosquito in the Ear is shaping up to be a standout indie release this year.
