Cannes Film Market 2026 to Debut Creator Economy Summit and Massive Virtual Production Stage

Date:

The Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival is preparing for its 2026 edition with a strong focus on innovation, technology, and evolving industry trends. Scheduled to take place from May 12 to May 20, the global film market is introducing new initiatives aimed at strengthening its role as a leading platform where cinema and cutting-edge technology intersect.

One of the biggest highlights this year is the introduction of the Creator Economy Summit, marking the market’s first dedicated event exploring the growing connection between digital creators and traditional filmmaking. The summit will examine how online content creators are transitioning into long-form storytelling, film production, and audience-driven distribution models. It will also focus on adapting digital intellectual property into films and discovering emerging talent shaping the future of entertainment.

Another major attraction is the unveiling of what is being described as the largest virtual production stage ever showcased at a film market. Hosted within the returning Village Innovation hub, this advanced setup will provide hands-on demonstrations of virtual production technologies, offering industry professionals a closer look at how filmmaking processes are evolving through digital tools.

The AI for Talent Summit is also returning for its second edition, expanding into a two-day event. Designed for selected leaders from both the film and technology sectors, the summit will explore practical uses of artificial intelligence in creative workflows. Key discussions will revolve around integrating AI into film production, ensuring ethical use of technology, and advancing education in this rapidly developing space.

Immersive experiences will play a larger role this year, with the Immersive Market expanding its presence and introducing a new demonstration area. The Immersive Competition will also take a fresh approach by focusing on shared audience experiences, allowing larger groups to engage simultaneously in innovative storytelling formats.

In addition to physical events, the Marché is enhancing its digital presence through an upgraded online platform. The newly integrated system, powered by Cinando, will combine virtual screenings, conference content, and networking tools into a single streamlined environment, making it easier for global participants to connect and collaborate.

With these developments, the Cannes Film Market continues to push boundaries by embracing new technologies and redefining how stories are created, shared, and experienced across the entertainment industry.
