Maria Sharapova and Bryan Brothers Selected for 2025 Induction into International Tennis Hall of Fame

Date:

Tennis icons Maria Sharapova and the dynamic doubles pair, Bob and Mike Bryan, have been selected for the Class of 2025 induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Announced on Thursday, this honor celebrates Sharapova, a five-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1, alongside the Bryan brothers, the most successful men’s doubles team in the history of the sport.

Kim Clijsters, former player and current President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, as well as a Class of 2017 inductee, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “It’s a privilege to welcome Maria Sharapova and Bob and Mike Bryan as the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025.” She highlighted that, beyond their historic achievements on the court, this class has inspired generations of fans worldwide. The induction ceremony is scheduled for August 23, 2025, at the Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island.

Sharapova holds the unique distinction of achieving a career Grand Slam, making her one of only ten women to have done so. She also earned an Olympic silver medal in women’s singles at the 2012 Olympics, marking her as the first Russian woman to secure the No. 1 ranking in August 2005, at just 18 years old. Her five Grand Slam victories include two French Opens and one each at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. Over her career, she won a total of 36 titles, notably clinching the year-end championship on her debut in 2004.

The Bryan brothers, who brought incredible synergy to the doubles scene, have not only won multiple Olympic medals, including a gold in 2012, but also hold the records for the most professional wins, tournament titles, and Grand Slam victories in men’s doubles. Their combined World No. 1 doubles ranking spanned 438 weeks, the longest in doubles history, with a remarkable 139 of those weeks holding the position consecutively.
