Neymar Keen on Extending Saudi Stay Amidst Al-Hilal Contract Termination Rumors

Date:

Brazilian forward Neymar Jr has expressed his desire to continue his career in Saudi Arabia despite reports suggesting that Al-Hilal might terminate his contract following a recent injury. Neymar’s contract with Al-Hilal is set to expire in June 2025. Speculation in Saudi Arabian media indicates that the club might not register him for the second half of the season. Neymar, who moved to Saudi from PSG at the age of 31, has struggled with injuries throughout his career, limiting his appearances. Since his high-profile transfer of approximately 90 million euros ($98 million) in August last year, he has only played seven matches for Al-Hilal.

Neymar recently returned to action after missing most of the previous season due to a knee injury. Unfortunately, he sustained a hamstring injury just 29 minutes into his return during a 3-0 victory over Iran’s Esteghlal in the Asian Champions Elite League, sidelining him for another four to six weeks. Despite these setbacks, Neymar remains positive about his time in Saudi Arabia. He praised the country as a great place for football and encouraged other players to explore opportunities there.

“The chance to play and live here is significant. I was warmly welcomed and am very happy. I believe other stars will come here and experience what I have. Many should have the opportunity to enjoy what I have found in Saudi Arabia,” Neymar said in an interview with Goal.

Meanwhile, Santos is looking forward to Neymar’s return as they secure their place in the top tier of Brazilian soccer next year. The club, renowned globally thanks to Pelé, hopes to see Neymar donning their colors once again.
