Google has introduced the Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1 update following the stable release of Android 15 for Pixel devices last month. This update, available since November 12, includes several anticipated features that will be part of the upcoming Pixel Drop in March 2025. Eligible devices include all Pixel models from the Pixel 6 onwards, as well as the newer foldable devices. However, the beta update is accessible only to users enrolled in Google’s Beta software program.
The Android Developer page has provided details on the new Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1 update. According to a report from Android Authority, the update introduces a customizable Do Not Disturb mode, allowing users to set specific rules tailored to their needs. This feature goes beyond the current presets, enabling the creation of custom modes with personalized names and icons. Users can then schedule these modes as required.
Additionally, the update hints at the return of the Icon Shape Customization feature, previously available in Android 11 but removed in Android 12. Though not yet active in the new Wallpaper and Style customization section, it has been discovered in the “in-development” version of the Pixel wallpaper app. This suggests that the feature might be reintroduced soon, allowing users to modify icon shapes and layouts.
The Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1 update also brings other enhancements. These include a Linux Terminal app for running Linux apps in a virtual machine, improved touchpad and mouse settings with customizable pointer colors, and the ability to control the mouse cursor using a physical keyboard’s number pad.
Moreover, the update upgrades all Pixel devices with older Tensor processors (Tensor G1, G2, and G3) to Linux 6.1. The latest Pixel smartphones, including the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, already operate on Linux 6.1.
