Celebrities including Beyoncé, Cardi B, and Oprah Winfrey are denying allegations that they were paid for their participation in Vice President Kamala Harris’s events. Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, recently addressed a rumor claiming that her daughter was paid $10 million to attend Vice President Kamala Harris’s rally in Houston in October. Oprah Winfrey, Megan Thee Stallion, and Cardi B have also faced similar accusations, with celebrities defending themselves against these baseless claims intended to tarnish their reputations and those involved.
Beyoncé’s mom took to Instagram on November 18 to set the record straight. The founder of House of Deréon shared a post labeled as “False Information” by Instagram, originally posted on Candace Owens’ podcast account. Tina Knowles emphasized that the rumor about Beyoncé receiving $10 million for her appearance is untrue. She added that Beyoncé did not take any money and even covered her own expenses, including flights and her team’s costs, echoing Cardi B’s statements about covering her own expenses for such events.
Knowles expressed frustration over the false rumors, stating, “They’re not just lying and disrespecting Beyoncé’s name, but they’re also trying to undermine the power of our Vice President!” She called out the lack of integrity in other platforms that still have the false information up.
Beyoncé, 43, from Houston, recently supported Kamala Harris at a campaign event alongside her Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland. Oprah Winfrey, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Jennifer Lopez, and John Legend were also involved in supporting Harris’s campaign. Despite their efforts, Kamala Harris lost to her Republican rival Trump. The stars are now facing false accusations of being paid for their appearances.
John Legend responded to Knowles’s post, affirming that they all participated for free out of care for the nation’s future. Cardi B also dismissed the claims, stating that she did not receive any payment and covered her own expenses for glam and travel. Oprah Winfrey clarified that her production company covered the costs for the live-streaming event, but she did not take any personal fee.
