Nick Jonas Embraces Family Time in New York with Priyanka Chopra and Daughter Malti While Starring in Broadway’s The Last Five Years

Date:

American pop star and actor Nick Jonas is cherishing his time in New York City as he enjoys a slower pace of life with his wife Priyanka Chopra and their daughter Malti Marie. Amid his busy schedule, Jonas is finding joy in being rooted in one place — especially while performing in the Broadway debut of The Last Five Years at the Hudson Theatre, where he stars alongside Tony Award winner Adrienne Warren.

Speaking about this special phase of life, Nick expressed how fulfilling it’s been to spend quality time with his family in the city that never sleeps. “Malti loves being in New York and this chapter for us has been wonderful,” he shared. Known for constantly moving between cities for professional commitments, the family is now soaking in the simple joy of stability. “To stay in one place and enjoy these little moments together has been really nice,” he added.

He further explained that their days in New York have been filled with exploration and family bonding. “We’ve been finding ways to keep Malti active and entertained, even while managing our tight schedules. It’s been lovely to create this balance and enjoy family time in between work,” Nick said.

While New York has provided grounding and togetherness, Broadway has brought excitement and new challenges. Although Nick is well-versed in performing on global stages, musical theater has pushed him creatively. He admitted that performing in The Last Five Years is both thrilling and intimidating due to the emotional depth and the high expectations from fans of the show.

“The people who have performed this before — whether in high school, college or community theater — those are the ones I really think about while stepping into the role,” Nick said. “But that’s the beauty of acting and storytelling — it’s about taking big risks and expressing yourself.”

Nick stars as Jamie Wellerstein, a budding novelist in a story that unfolds from two perspectives over five years. The two-person musical by Jason Robert Brown follows the ups and downs of a relationship, told through alternating timelines.

Ahead of each show, Jonas has developed a routine of walking to the theatre, often bumping into fans on the street. “It’s a great confidence boost before stepping on stage. Meeting people in the city is always uplifting,” he joked, adding, “And it’s even better when they don’t call me Joe or Kevin.”

As Nick continues to evolve as a performer, his heart clearly remains rooted in home life — a balance he seems to have found amidst the rhythm of Broadway and the warmth of family life in New York City.
