The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially released the updated schedule for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League 2025. After a brief suspension due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the much-anticipated league is set to resume on May 17, bringing relief and excitement to fans worldwide.
In a press release shared late Sunday, the BCCI confirmed that the league will restart with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) facing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru. A total of 17 matches will be played across six major Indian cities, concluding with the grand final on June 3.
The decision to resume IPL 2025 came after high-level consultations with security agencies and government officials. “After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season,” the BCCI said in its statement.
The new fixture list includes two double-headers on upcoming Sundays. Fans will once again get the chance to see star players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and others back in action.
The IPL was suspended mid-season due to security concerns following the Pahalgam terror incident, which led to a military response by India and escalated cross-border tensions. This disruption also affected Pakistan’s PSL, which is now expected to resume soon as well.
