Tom Hardy Opens Up About Long List of Injuries From Action Roles and Martial Arts at 47

Date:

Hollywood star Tom Hardy, renowned for his physically intense roles in Venom, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Dark Knight Rises, has candidly shared the toll years of action films and martial arts have taken on his body. In a recent interview with Esquire UK, the 47-year-old actor discussed the growing list of injuries he has accumulated throughout his career and admitted, “It’s not going to get better.”

The British actor revealed that he has undergone two knee surgeries and is now dealing with a herniated disc in his back, sciatica, and plantar fasciitis. He added that he recently pulled a tendon in his hip, pointing out that his body seems to be “falling to bits.” Despite this, Hardy’s dedication to his craft and physically demanding roles remains unwavering.

Known for his commitment to authentic performances, Hardy has not only taken on intense physical transformations but also participated in real-life martial arts tournaments. This has led to wear and tear that he now openly acknowledges.

Currently, Tom Hardy stars in the Paramount+ crime drama MobLand, available on JioHotstar in India, alongside actors like Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. He also headlined and produced Havoc on Netflix. His last appearance as Eddie Brock was in Venom: The Last Dance (2024), a film he co-wrote and produced.

Reflecting on his journey with the Venom franchise, Hardy said, “I loved playing Eddie. It felt like juggling chainsaws while on a unicycle. I was pushing myself to the limits. But there was no Spider-Man, no Avengers—just us. I’d love to see those crossovers, but that’s not in my control. I’m just an actor in that world.”

While Hardy might be facing the physical consequences of his action-packed career, his passion for storytelling and performance clearly remains undiminished.
