Moon Knight Season 2 Update: Creator Jeremy Slater Breaks Silence on Marvel’s Future Plans

Date:

Marvel’s psychological superhero drama Moon Knight, which captivated fans back in 2022 with Oscar Isaac’s stellar portrayal of a man suffering from dissociative identity disorder, still holds a strong place in viewers’ hearts. Despite its critical acclaim and the buzz around Isaac’s dual performance as Marc Spector and Steven Grant, there has been little to no news about a second season—until now.

The first season concluded with an intriguing mid-credits scene introducing Jake Lockley, a third personality, leaving the door wide open for further storytelling. However, since then, Moon Knight has been noticeably absent from Marvel’s main lineup, with fans constantly speculating and hoping for the white-suited vigilante’s return.

Recently, in an interview with ComicBook, Moon Knight creator Jeremy Slater addressed the long silence. Expressing his own confusion at the lack of continuation, he emphasized the character’s popularity and potential for deeper narratives. Slater mentioned that the decision for a second season lies mainly with Marvel boss Kevin Feige and Oscar Isaac.

“Talk to Kevin Feige. Talk to Oscar Isaac. It all depends on how much Moon Knight Oscar wants to do,” Slater remarked. “Kevin has the master plan, and I think when there’s a compelling story that fits Moon Knight into the bigger picture, we’ll see him again. But right now, I’m as curious as everyone else.”

Though the series isn’t currently in Marvel’s Phase 6 plans, the character hasn’t been shelved entirely. Moon Knight’s latest appearance was in What If…? Season 3, and there are rumors about a potential cameo in Avengers: Doomsday, though nothing is confirmed.

Marvel Studios is now focused on completing Phase 6, and Moon Knight could possibly reappear during Phase 7. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel TV’s executive, gave a brief update earlier this year, saying that past shows like Moon Knight were part of an introductory wave aimed at tying into broader storylines. However, Marvel’s television approach is evolving.

“We’re now producing shows that can stand on their own as seasonal events. I’d personally love a second season of Moon Knight, and yes, there are future plans for the character,” Winderbaum revealed.

While fans may have to wait a bit longer, all signs suggest Moon Knight hasn’t been forgotten. Until then, the mystery continues—and so does the hope.
