Honor Magic V5 Foldable Phone May Launch in June With Snapdragon 8 Elite and 6100mAh Battery

Date:

Honor is reportedly preparing to introduce its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V5, as the successor to the Honor Magic V3. According to several leaks circulating on Chinese social media platforms, the device is expected to debut in China by the end of June. One of the standout features of the upcoming foldable is its massive battery capacity, which may surpass all existing foldables on the market.

Sources like Smart Pikachu and Guan on Weibo suggest that the Honor Magic V5 will be unveiled alongside a lineup of other products, including the Honor Watch 5 Ultra, new wireless earbuds, tablets, and additional smart devices. One tipster, translating from Chinese, noted that the Honor Magic V5 will pack a battery that is 100mAh larger than the Vivo X Fold 5, which itself is rumored to carry a 6000mAh battery. This suggests that the Honor Magic V5 could include a powerful 6100mAh cell — the largest in a foldable phone to date.

A recent 3C certification listing also indicated support for 66W wired fast charging, aligning with the specs of the previous Magic V3 model. While the Magic V3 featured a 5150mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging, the new Magic V5 is expected to bring an even more impressive battery performance.

Display-wise, the Honor Magic V5 is said to include an 8-inch 2K inner foldable LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, paired with a 6.45-inch external cover screen. Under the hood, it may be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and run MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15.

Camera capabilities are also expected to receive an upgrade. Leaks suggest a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization, a high-resolution ultra-wide camera, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens for enhanced zoom capabilities. Security may be handled by a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, while the build is rumored to be both sleek and water-resistant with an IPX8 rating.

Although Honor has yet to officially confirm these details, anticipation is high as the foldable phone market continues to heat up with competitive innovations.
