Margot Robbie’s Birthday Celebration: A Look Back at Her Iconic Barbie Press Tour Wardrobe

Date:

Margot Robbie turns 34 today, and as the first anniversary of the Barbenheimer phenomenon approaches, it’s the perfect time to revisit the incredible wardrobe that defined her Barbie press tour. Margot Robbie, who began her career with a breakthrough role in “The Wolf of Wall Street” alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, has consistently impressed audiences with her versatility. From standout performances in “Suicide Squad,” “I, Tonya,” “Once Upon a Time…in…Hollywood,” and “Babylon,” her most significant project remains Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” released last July. Margot, who also produced the film, led the billion-dollar feminist dystopian hit with her captivating presence. While the movie’s vintage and pink-themed costumes were a visual treat, it was her press tour wardrobe, meticulously curated by stylist Andrew Mukamal, that truly stole the spotlight.

Malibu Barbies:

Margot kicked off her press tour with an almost entirely Bottega Veneta ensemble, featuring a custom Knotted Melange Pleated Skirt and matching bustier in bubble pink. Accessories included a Mini Cabat in Ribbon from the upscale Italian fashion house, heart-shaped Jessica McCormack jewelry, a vintage Chanel rhinestone anklet, and white-framed Maison Margiela shades. The look was completed with a pink convertible for the perfect all-pink frame.

One of Margot’s subsequent looks was inspired by the 2014 “Pink and Fabulous” Barbie doll. She wore a custom polka-dotted criss-cross bodycon in pink and white, paired with a bright yellow Rockstud Spike Bag from Valentino and pristine white Manolo Blahnik pointed pumps.

Holographic Barbies:

Margot embraced the holographic trend on multiple occasions during the press tour. One early look featured a knitted pale pink turtleneck crop sweater paired with a pleated holographic miniskirt in dusty pink, both from Versace.

She also wore a vintage Versace holographic skater dress with Metallic Jadifa Mules from Manolo Blahnik. Another variation was a laminated leather metallic pink dress from Versace, worn during a media session.

A customized Versace number combined a shimmering bodice with a poofed-up layered tulle skirt, inspired by the 1985 “Day-to-Night” Barbie doll. Custom Manolo Blahnik pumps in pop pink and a Versace Crystal La Medusa bag completed the look.

Preppy Barbies:

Inspired by the 1964 “Sparkling” Barbie doll, Margot wore a rhinestone-studded Moschino skirt set with a custom-made bow-embellished headpiece, bright pink Manolo Blahnik mules, a Moschino Quilted Heart Purse, and pearl and bow earrings from Tiffany.

Another preppy look featured a buttoned Versace Cavalry Twill set. A standout was the pale pink Moschino skirt suit with a cropped blazer and heart-shaped buttons, completed with heart-shaped sunglasses and Moschino’s iconic Heart lock bag.

Tweed was a recurring theme, with Margot wearing an Alessandra Rich pale pink and black mini skirt suit, a Carolina Herrera resort wear belted dress, and a textured Balmain crop top and midi skirt combination.

Red Carpet Barbies:

For the London premiere of “Barbie,” Margot channeled the 1960 “Enchanted Evening” Barbie doll in a custom baby pink Vivienne Westwood satin gown with a corseted bodice, ruched waist, asymmetrical trail, and feathered bust. Christian Louboutin Degramules and Assael pearl jewelry completed the look.

At the LA premiere, she switched things up with an all-black ensemble inspired by the 1960 “Solo in the Spotlight” Barbie doll. She wore a custom Schiaparelli sequined midi gown by Daniel Roseberry, black velveteen opera gloves, black Manolo Blahnik Patent leather mules, and Lorraine Schwartz diamond jewelry.

Off-Duty Barbie:

Even off-duty, Margot embraced the Barbie aesthetic. In South Korea, she sported an Adidas x Gucci set with a powder pink sweatshirt and light pink wide-leg ripstop jersey pants. A Chanel Deauville shopping bag and Versace Medusa platform sandals completed the look.

It’s Not All Pink:

Margot often incorporated non-pink elements into her wardrobe. She wore a yellow tweed mini skirt set from Chanel with a white Quilted Feather bag. A custom Herve Leger striped bodycon in black and white was inspired by the 1959 “Mattel’s First Barbie” doll.

She also wore a strawberry-stamped romper from Moschino and a powder blue tweed and sequin skirt suit set from Miu Miu. A ruby red Dilara Findikoglu Bubble Cut dress was inspired by the 1962 “Bubble Cut Brunette” Barbie doll.

Margot and stylist Andrew Mukamal’s book, “Barbie: The World Tour,” captures the detailed efforts that went into her iconic press tour wardrobe.
