The beloved comedic duo Regina Hall and Anna Faris are officially making a comeback in Scary Movie 6, reprising their iconic roles as Brenda and Cindy in the cult-favorite horror-comedy series. Directed by Michael Tiddes with a screenplay by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Keenen Ivory Wayans, the upcoming film promises a nostalgic yet fresh take on the franchise that has entertained audiences for over two decades.
In a joint statement, Hall and Faris expressed their excitement: “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back and reunite with our friends Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for, in Brenda’s case, again.”
Marlon Wayans celebrated the news on Instagram with a throwback image from the 2000 original Scary Movie, captioning, “They’re back.” The Wayans brothers, who co-wrote and starred in the first two films, expressed their joy at returning, recalling how audiences once laughed in theatre aisles and hoping to recreate that magic in 2026.
Production for the sixth instalment of the nearly $900 million-grossing franchise begins in October, with a worldwide release date set for June 12, 2026, under Paramount. Miramax holds a first-look deal with Paramount for the film. Alongside Hall and Faris, Dave Sheridan will return as Officer Duffy, adding to the nostalgia for long-time fans.
Following the announcement, social media lit up with reactions, with fans calling Hall and Faris “two iconic characters from the saga” and pledging to watch simply because they’ve followed the previous five films. With the original creators and fan-favorite cast back on board, Scary Movie 6 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated comedy releases of the decade.
