Henry Cavill Suffers Injury During Training for Chad Stahelski’s Highlander Film Pushing Production to 2026

Date:

Henry Cavill has sustained an injury during pre-production training for the much-awaited Highlander reboot, forcing a delay in the start of filming. The movie, directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski, was originally scheduled to begin production later this year but will now shift its timeline to 2026.

The upcoming Highlander film, produced under Amazon and MGM’s United Artists banner, will feature Henry Cavill as the iconic character MacLeod. He will be joined by Russell Crowe, playing Ramirez, and Dave Bautista as the fearsome villain Kurgen. The story follows MacLeod, a Scottish Highlander who discovers he is immortal and must face battles across centuries, with the guiding mentorship of Ramirez.

The original Highlander film, released in 1986, starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod and Sean Connery as Ramirez. The cult classic became famous for its unique storyline and the iconic phrase, “there can be only one.” The new adaptation promises to bring fresh energy, advanced filmmaking techniques, and a darker action-driven approach under Stahelski’s vision.

The project is backed by producers Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt, Neal H Moritz, Stahelski’s 87Eleven Entertainment, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner, with Michael Finch penning the script. Despite the delay, anticipation remains high as fans look forward to Henry Cavill’s transformation into one of cinema’s most legendary characters.
