Marvel Studios has just released the teaser trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, featuring Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America wielding the iconic shield. The trailer also introduces the Red Hulk, adding a new layer of excitement.
Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World features a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton. This film is the fourth installment in the beloved franchise and the first since Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers retired his superhero persona in Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Chris Evans portrayed Steve Rogers across three Captain America films and four Avengers movies. In Avengers: Endgame, Rogers decides to go back in time to live his life with Peggy Carter, leaving his vibranium shield to Sam Wilson, who promises to honor the legacy as the new Captain America.
The new teaser shows Sam Wilson interacting with Harrison Ford’s character, US President Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross. The trailer intensifies as Sam thwarts an assassination attempt at the White House, and concludes with a thrilling glimpse of the Red Hulk, the alter-ego of Ross in the Marvel comics.
Sam Wilson first appeared as Captain America in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where he partnered with Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan, to combat a group of super-soldier terrorists. The series received five Emmy nominations and solidified Sam’s role as Captain America.
Captain America: Brave New World marks Anthony Mackie’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, joined by familiar faces like Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas as Sabra, and Giancarlo Esposito in a mysterious villain role.
Harrison Ford joins the cast as ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, a role previously portrayed by the late William Hurt. The film will also feature Liv Tyler returning as Betty Ross and Tim Blake Nelson reprising his role as the Leader from The Incredible Hulk.
Captain America: Brave New World is set for theatrical release on February 12, 2025.
