The anticipation for the Asia Cup 2025 final between India and Pakistan has intensified as questions loom over the fitness of Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Sharma. After India’s thrilling Super Over victory against Sri Lanka in their last Super 4s clash at the Dubai International Stadium, bowling coach Morne Morkel addressed the media to clarify the injury situation.
Morkel revealed that both players experienced cramps rather than serious injuries. Hardik Pandya walked off after his first over, where he dismissed Kusal Mendis for a golden duck, clutching his left hamstring. He did not return for the rest of the innings, raising concerns among fans. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma showed discomfort while running in the ninth over, holding his right thigh, and left the field in the 10th over.
Both players were treated with ice and pickle juice on the sidelines to recover from cramps. Morkel assured that Abhishek Sharma is fine, while Hardik’s availability for the final will be decided after assessment on Saturday morning.
India’s bowling coach also confirmed that Team India will not hold a training session before the final on Sunday, September 28, against Pakistan. Instead, the management has planned recovery sessions with ice baths, massages, and pool work to ensure players are fully rested and mentally prepared for the high-stakes clash.
“The key is smart recovery and staying fresh for the final. There’s no point in draining the players with training at this stage. Rest and recovery will make all the difference,” said Morkel.
The Asia Cup 2025 India vs Pakistan final is set to deliver another high-octane battle, with millions of fans worldwide waiting to see if Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Sharma will feature in the playing XI.
