In his heartfelt post, Dwayne shared two stills from the film and expressed, “From deep in my grateful bones, thank you to everyone who has watched The Smashing Machine. In our storytelling world, you can’t control box office results — but what you can control is your performance and your commitment to completely disappear into the character.”

The sports drama, which also stars Emily Blunt, depicts the intense journey of real-life MMA fighter Mark Kerr, exploring his personal struggles and complicated relationship with his then-girlfriend, portrayed by Blunt. According to Variety, The Smashing Machine ranked third in its debut weekend, trailing behind Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl with $33 million and One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, which earned $10.3 million. Despite a $50 million production budget, Dwayne Johnson remains optimistic, focusing on storytelling depth over commercial success.
