Adobe has officially launched its Firefly mobile application for both Android and iOS, expanding access to powerful generative AI tools for content creators on the go. The Firefly app brings a comprehensive suite of features, including image and video generation, as well as intelligent editing capabilities, now accessible directly from smartphones and tablets. It also supports seamless syncing with Adobe Creative Cloud, allowing users to continue their projects across devices.
According to Adobe’s latest announcement, the Firefly mobile app integrates both Adobe’s proprietary AI models—such as Firefly Image 3, Image 4, and Image 4 Ultra—and leading third-party models from OpenAI and Google, including Imagen 3 and 4, GPT image models, and Veo 2 for video generation. Users can also create videos from static images using these tools. A significant feature for editors, the app includes Generative Fill for removing or adding elements in photos using text prompts, and Generative Expand for intelligently enlarging image borders.
All projects created through the Firefly app are automatically backed up and synced to the user’s Creative Cloud account, ensuring real-time updates and cross-device collaboration. For users on the free tier, Adobe offers 10 generative AI credits per month. Paid users receive additional credits depending on their plan, which can be spent on various AI-powered features. Lightweight edits such as object removal require fewer credits, while full-scale generative video creation consumes more.
Alongside the mobile app release, Adobe also introduced new capabilities for Firefly Boards, the collaborative AI-driven moodboarding tool now enhanced with video remixing and generation features. This update uses advanced AI models such as Firefly Video, Veo 3, Luma Ray2, and Pika 2.2, enabling users to turn text prompts into video clips or manipulate uploaded footage creatively.
This strategic release cements Adobe’s commitment to blending generative AI with mobile accessibility, allowing professionals and hobbyists alike to bring their visions to life wherever they are.
