Air Canada Suspends Dubai Flights Amid Cabin Crew Strike Affecting International Travel

Date:

Passengers flying between Dubai International Airport and Canada face major disruption as Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge have suspended all flights on the Toronto–Dubai route until further notice. The cancellations are a direct result of strike action by the airline’s cabin crew, leading to hundreds of international flight delays and suspensions across Canada’s network.

Emirates flights from Dubai to Toronto and Montréal continue to operate normally from DXB Terminal 3, but Air Canada services remain halted. While Dubai Airports’ live flight tracker still lists upcoming Air Canada flights, the strike situation is fluid, and travelers are strongly advised to check their bookings before heading to the airport.

According to the airline, flights departing Dubai at 1.25am GST have been cancelled since Saturday, August 16. Travelers can check live flight status updates directly on Dubai Airports’ website or via Air Canada’s official portal.

What passengers can do now
Air Canada has announced special measures for affected travelers. Customers holding tickets issued on or before August 17 for flights scheduled between Friday, August 15, and Wednesday, August 20, can change their bookings free of charge. Rebooked flights must be scheduled between Friday, August 22, and Tuesday, September 30.

Alternatively, passengers may request a full refund for the unused portion of their tickets if travel was booked on or before Friday, August 15, for flights originally planned between August 18 and August 19.

The suspension not only affects direct flights from Dubai to Toronto but may also disrupt travelers with international connections on Air Canada-operated routes. Passengers are urged to monitor updates closely and arrange alternative travel plans in advance.
