Al Nassr Defeat Al Ittihad 2-1 to Reach 2025 Saudi Super Cup Final in Hong Kong

Date:

Al Nassr sealed their place in the 2025 Saudi Super Cup final after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Al Ittihad in the semifinal played at Hong Kong Stadium on Tuesday night. Despite going down to ten men, Cristiano Ronaldo’s side displayed resilience and tactical sharpness to book their sixth appearance in the tournament’s final.

The match opened with high intensity as Sadio Mane connected with a Marcelo Brozovic cross in the 10th minute, smashing in a volley that slipped past Al Ittihad goalkeeper Hamed Al-Shanqiti. However, the lead did not last long as Steven Bergwijn equalised just six minutes later, finishing off a cutback from Moussa Diaby.

Drama unfolded when Mane was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on Al-Shanqiti, reducing Al Nassr to ten men. Even with the numerical disadvantage, the Riyadh-based club pressed forward with determination.

In the second half, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to have scored but was initially flagged offside. A VAR review overturned the decision, allowing Ronaldo to square the ball to Joao Felix, who calmly slotted home to restore Al Nassr’s lead. Felix later thought he had bagged a brace, but his second strike was ruled out after VAR spotted a foul by Ronaldo in the build-up.

The win means Al Nassr, who previously lifted the Saudi Super Cup in 2019 and 2020, will now compete in their sixth final. They will face the winner of the other semifinal clash between Al Qadisiyah and Al Ahli Saudi on Wednesday.
