Apple is reportedly preparing a fresh visual identity for its next premium smartphones with a bold new colour under evaluation for the iPhone 18 Pro series. As per recent industry insights the company is experimenting with a deep red finish that could become the standout flagship shade for the upcoming Pro models. At the same time Apple is said to be taking a more restrained approach with its long-rumoured foldable iPhone opting for subtle and practical colour options instead of eye-catching tones.
Sources suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are currently being tested in a rich deep red colour which may replace the Cosmic Orange finish introduced with last year’s Pro lineup. The orange shade reportedly performed well in several markets especially in China where it gained attention for its premium look. Building on that success Apple appears keen to introduce a new signature colour that still feels luxurious but offers a distinct refresh for 2026.
There have also been whispers of additional hues such as purple or brown but these are believed to be experimental variations of the same red concept rather than entirely new colour options. It remains uncertain whether Apple will keep the previous orange finish alongside the new red as the two shades are considered visually close.
In contrast the foldable iPhone often referred to as the iPhone Fold is expected to follow a more conservative design language. Reports indicate that Apple may prioritise durability and practicality for its first foldable device choosing classic tones such as black silver dark grey or white. This approach aligns with Apple’s tendency to debut new form factors with understated aesthetics before introducing bolder designs in later generations.
The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is widely expected to launch in September while the foldable iPhone could debut around the same time as part of a broader shift in Apple’s product strategy. The standard iPhone 18 model is rumoured to arrive later potentially in 2027.
