The Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony in Paris proved to be a historic evening for Paris Saint-Germain and global football. Ousmane Dembélé lifted his first Men’s Ballon d’Or after guiding PSG to their maiden UEFA Champions League title, while Aitana Bonmatí made history by winning her third consecutive Women’s Ballon d’Or with Barcelona.
The prestigious event at Théâtre du Châtelet also crowned PSG as the Men’s Club of the Year, while Arsenal Women claimed the Women’s Club of the Year following their triumph in the Women’s Champions League.
In the youth categories, Lamine Yamal secured his second Kopa Trophy, while Vicky López won the inaugural Women’s Kopa Trophy, both representing Barcelona. Goalkeeper excellence was recognized with Gianluigi Donnarumma taking home the Men’s Yashin Trophy for PSG and Hannah Hampton earning the first-ever Women’s Yashin Trophy after her success with Chelsea and England.
The coaching awards went to Luis Enrique, honored with the Men’s Johan Cruyff Trophy for PSG’s Champions League success, and Sarina Wiegman, who was celebrated for leading England to back-to-back EURO titles. In goal-scoring glory, Viktor Gyökeres won the Men’s Gerd Müller Trophy with 54 goals in 52 matches, while Ewa Pajor of Barcelona secured the women’s version with 43 goals.
The Socrates Award was given to the Xana Foundation, created by Luis Enrique in memory of his daughter, highlighting the humanitarian side of football.
This year also marked a milestone for women’s football, with three new categories recognizing female athletes’ achievements, underlining a stronger commitment to equality within the sport.
