BCCI Urged to Fast-Track Vaibhav Suryavanshi as Former India Captain Draws Tendulkar Comparison

Date:

Former India skipper Krishnamachari Srikkanth has strongly backed teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi for an early call-up to the Indian senior team. Pointing to Sachin Tendulkar’s debut at a very young age, Srikkanth believes exceptional talent should be promoted without unnecessary delay. He highlighted Suryavanshi’s maturity, fearless approach, and technical soundness as qualities rarely seen at such a young age.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been making headlines with consistent performances across junior and domestic cricket. His rapid rise has included record-breaking feats, most notably becoming the youngest batter to score a List A century. During a recent Vijay Hazare Trophy match, the youngster smashed a sensational 190 runs off just 84 balls, reaching his century in a mere 36 deliveries and striking 15 sixes, a display that underlined his destructive batting ability.

Srikkanth praised the teenager’s ability to dominate bowlers across formats and age groups, stating that such performances demand immediate attention from national selectors. He stressed that Suryavanshi’s success is not limited to one level or opponent, but reflects sustained excellence against varied competition. According to him, delaying exposure to international cricket could slow the development of a once-in-a-generation talent.

Drawing parallels with Tendulkar’s early international debut, Srikkanth dismissed the argument of waiting longer for experience. He argued that white-ball cricket, in particular, offers the ideal platform for young talents like Suryavanshi to thrive early. With impressive youth ODI numbers and a strike rate that reflects modern aggressive cricket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is increasingly seen as a future cornerstone of Indian batting.
