While it is not a replacement for prescribed diabetes treatment, medical experts highlight that berberine can play a helpful complementary role when combined with a balanced diet, physical activity, and professional guidance. Often referred to as a natural insulin sensitiser, berberine works through multiple metabolic pathways that support glucose regulation and overall metabolic health.
According to Dr Vineet Malhotra, Director and Founder of VNA Hospital, berberine helps improve insulin sensitivity, reduces excess glucose release from the liver, and slows carbohydrate absorption in the gut.
