A fresh development has emerged in the ongoing legal tensions between former Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The Fight Club actor has reportedly intensified his lawsuit against Jolie over the sale of her shares in their jointly owned French estate and wine business, Chateau Miraval.
As reported by People, Pitt’s attorneys recently submitted new court documents containing communication records with Jolie’s legal representatives regarding the disputed 2021 transaction. The latest filing includes an email from November 2023 in which Jolie’s lawyers argued that Pitt must provide documents demonstrating the financial damage he claims occurred due to her actions.
According to the submission, Jolie’s legal team stated that Pitt is responsible for the extensive document production since he is seeking USD 35 million in damages. They also highlighted that Pitt requested ongoing compensation for what he alleges are disruptions to Miraval’s business operations. Additionally, they questioned his refusal to provide materials that explain the necessity of a four-year non-disclosure agreement related to his personal behavior.
The dispute first surfaced in 2022 when Pitt accused Jolie of selling her ownership stake without the mutual approval they reportedly agreed upon when they acquired the prestigious French property. Recently, Jolie invoked attorney-client privilege to decline the release of several contested documents, a move Pitt’s side argues is an improper restriction of information. He is now pushing for access to 22 withheld files.
The next court hearing for the case is set for December 17.
Jolie and Pitt were together for over a decade and married for two years before separating in 2016. They share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. Their divorce was legally finalized in December 2024, but their property and business disputes continue to unfold.
