BTS member V reacts to private messages being used in HYBE and Min Hee jin court battle without approval

Date:

BTS member Kim Taehyung widely known as V has publicly addressed reports claiming that his personal chat messages were submitted as evidence in the ongoing legal dispute between HYBE and former ADOR chief Min Hee jin. The singer shared his response through an Instagram Story expressing discomfort and frustration over the situation stating that his consent was never taken before the messages were presented in court.

According to V the messages in question were part of a casual private conversation shared in good faith with someone he knew personally. He clarified that his words were never intended to support either side in the corporate conflict and were spoken with empathy rather than judgment. V described the experience as deeply upsetting especially because the chats were disclosed publicly without his knowledge or permission.

The issue surfaced during court hearings connected to the dispute between HYBE and Min Hee jin which began in 2024 and revolves around management control of ADOR the label behind NewJeans. During proceedings Min’s legal team reportedly referenced a KakaoTalk exchange involving V where he commented on perceived similarities between NewJeans and another HYBE affiliated girl group ILLIT. Those comments were used to support arguments around plagiarism and creative overlap.

In response V stressed that the conversation was taken out of context and reiterated that he never meant to accuse or defend anyone. He emphasized that private everyday exchanges should not be repurposed for legal strategies without clear approval from all parties involved.

The lawsuit itself has been one of the most closely watched cases in the K pop industry. HYBE accused Min of attempting to gain independent control of ADOR while Min countered that HYBE illegally terminated a shareholder agreement preventing her from selling back her shares under agreed terms. A Seoul court later ruled in Min’s favour ordering HYBE to pay a substantial settlement and confirming her contractual rights.

As discussions around originality and artistic influence continue to divide fans and industry insiders V’s statement has added a new dimension to the controversy highlighting concerns around privacy and the boundaries of legal evidence in high profile entertainment disputes.
