Carlos Alcaraz Speaks Out on Coaching Change as He Parts Ways With Juan Carlos Ferrero

Date:

Carlos Alcaraz has addressed his unexpected coaching separation from Juan Carlos Ferrero, bringing clarity to the end of one of the most successful partnerships in modern tennis. The Spanish star described the decision as a natural turning point in his career, emphasizing mutual respect and gratitude rather than conflict.

After working together for seven years, Alcaraz and Ferrero jointly decided to move in different professional directions. The collaboration began when Alcaraz was just 15 years old and developed into a defining chapter of his rise to the top of world tennis. Under Ferrero’s guidance, Alcaraz secured 24 professional titles, including six Grand Slam trophies, and established himself as one of the most dominant and exciting players of his generation.

Speaking during a press conference in Melbourne ahead of the Australian Open, Alcaraz explained that the decision was made collectively within his team. He noted that every major move in his career is discussed openly among his close-knit support group, ensuring alignment and long-term vision. According to Alcaraz, the separation was handled internally, calmly, and with full agreement from all involved.

The world number one reflected on the importance of closing chapters at the right time, stating that personal and professional growth sometimes requires change. He highlighted Ferrero’s influence on his development, crediting him for shaping his mentality, discipline, and competitive edge. Despite no longer working together, Alcaraz confirmed that the two remain on good terms and continue to share mutual respect and friendship.

Addressing speculation about potential changes to his playing style, Alcaraz made it clear that his on-court approach remains largely unchanged. He confirmed that his current team structure is almost identical to last season, with only Ferrero no longer present. Rather than reinventing his game, Alcaraz said the focus has been on refining specific areas, improving consistency, and building on the strengths that already brought him success.

As Alcaraz prepares for the Australian Open without Ferrero in his player box for the first time, the young Spaniard appears confident, composed, and focused on the next stage of his career. The transition marks a new era, but one firmly rooted in the foundations laid during a historic partnership.
