A Los Angeles judge has ordered a psychological assessment for a man identified as Jimmy Wayne Carwyle who is facing serious allegations of stalking actress Jennifer Aniston and ramming his vehicle into the front gate of her Bel Air home. The incident reportedly took place on May 5 while the actor was inside the residence. According to police reports a security guard on-site managed to detain the intruder until law enforcement arrived and took him into custody.
The 48-year-old suspect from Mississippi appeared in court shirtless and wrapped in a blanket behind protective glass prompting the judge to call for a mental health court evaluation to assess his competency to stand trial for felony charges of stalking and vandalism. During the court hearing Carwyle did not speak and his defense attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Prosecutors revealed that the accused has allegedly been harassing the Friends star for the past two years through repeated voicemails emails and social media messages. These allegations span from March 1 2023 to May 5 2025 marking a persistent campaign of unwanted communication directed at the actress.
Judge Keith L Schwartz raised doubts over Carwyle’s ability to comprehend courtroom instructions especially when a prosecutor requested a restraining order to keep him away from Jennifer Aniston. Nevertheless the judge imposed a strict no-contact order forbidding the defendant from making any attempt to communicate with the actor under any circumstances.
Carwyle remains in custody as he failed to post the $150000 bail set by the court. His public defender stated there was no immediate concern of further contact with Aniston but the judge proceeded with caution issuing the mandatory order for her protection.
Images from the court appearance have surfaced online showing the accused smiling while behind glass which has alarmed many of Jennifer’s fans. Social media users expressed their concern describing the incident and the accused’s demeanor as disturbing and frightening. Some even stated the photos caused anxiety and nightmares triggering widespread discussions about celebrity safety and the psychological state of the accused.
The suspect’s actions have reignited conversations around stalking laws and the safety of high-profile individuals particularly when there is a known history of harassment. Jennifer Aniston’s supporters continue to voice their worry about her wellbeing as legal proceedings against Carwyle unfold.
