India’s cocktail scene earned a standing ovation this week as five exceptional bars secured a place on the prestigious Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 list, revealed at a grand ceremony in Macau. At the forefront was Lair in New Delhi, ranking #8, marking a proud moment for the country’s rapidly growing mixology culture. From experimental drinks with edible paint to high-concept bar storytelling, these Indian venues are not only crafting cocktails — they are redefining Asia’s drinking experience.
Taking the highest Indian spot, Lair in Delhi is a modern speakeasy located in Vasant Vihar. Founded by Jairaj Singh Solanki and Dhruv Raj Vij, this bar blends minimalistic design with radical beverage innovation. Known for visually arresting drinks like the Coorg Highball and cocktails served with edible paint, Lair brings artistry and flair to every pour, turning cocktail-making into a creative performance.
Next up is SOKA in Bengaluru, ranked #28, an intimate 38-seat bar that blends poetic storytelling with imaginative ingredients. Created by the minds behind Jamming Goat, Chef Sombir Choudhary and bartender Avinash Kapoli, SOKA showcases story-driven cocktails that incorporate elements like clarified jasmine and red cabbage extract. Their unique creations speak to the soul of the city, offering a new way to experience Bengaluru in every glass.
Boilermaker in Goa secured the #30 position, with its gritty-meets-gourmet style and high-energy drinks like “Papa Issues” and “Chotu Garibaldi.” Co-founded by Pankaj Balachandran and Nakul Bhonsle, this bar celebrates Goa’s vibrant nightlife with drinks that are equal parts flavor and fun.
ZLB23 at The Leela Palace in Bengaluru came in at #31. Hidden behind a secret entrance, this jazz-infused, prohibition-era bar is a cozy escape where Shiso Negronis and smoked Old-Fashioneds await. With dim lighting and smooth music, it brings a dose of intimacy to the city’s luxury cocktail culture.
Spirit Forward, also in Bengaluru, landed the #37 spot thanks to its bold flavors and upscale presentation. Located on Lavelle Road, this chic venue is where attention to detail reigns — from blue cheese-stuffed olives to the precision-poured prediluted gin martinis. The Southern Star, a fermented tequila cocktail, is already a fan favorite.
Bars Just Outside the Top 50:
Four more Indian bars made it to the extended 51–100 list — Bar Outrigger in Goa (#55), Sidecar in Delhi (#62), The Bombay Canteen in Mumbai (#69), and Hideaway in Goa (#94) — showcasing the depth and diversity of India’s bar talent.
With inventive menus, world-class presentation, and a blend of traditional and modern influences, these bars are turning India into a must-visit destination for cocktail lovers across Asia and beyond.
