Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cup dried figs
- ½ cup khoya/mawa
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup chopped nuts (cashews, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, raisins)
- ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
- A few strands of saffron
- Ghee
- Almond slivers (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Soak the chopped figs in warm water for 2-3 hours until they become soft. Drain the water and blend the soaked figs into a smooth paste using a mixer.
- In a pan, heat ghee. Add the fig paste to the hot ghee and cook for 7-8 minutes, stirring until the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Add khoya to the fig paste, ensuring all ingredients are well combined. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Add sugar to the halwa according to your taste. Alternatively, jaggery or brown sugar can be used. Continue cooking until the halwa thickens and has a uniform texture.
- Add cardamom powder, chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, raisins, walnuts), and saffron strands to the halwa to enhance the flavor. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, mixing well.
