- Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
- 500 grams boneless chicken
- 1/2 cup thick yogurt (hung curd)
- 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 7-8 wooden skewers
- 7-8 lemon slices
- 3 tablespoons butter
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Start by cutting the chicken into small bite-sized pieces. Use a tissue to pat them dry and place the pieces in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the thick yogurt (hung curd) along with the spices—coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, Kashmiri chili powder, and turmeric powder—into the bowl. Mix thoroughly. To allow the spices to infuse deeply into the chicken, poke the pieces with a fork before marinating.
- Incorporate lemon juice and oil into the mixture, ensuring the chicken is evenly coated. Let the chicken marinate for 6 to 8 hours to maximize flavor absorption.
- Soak the wooden skewers in hot water for 20 minutes. Once the chicken is marinated, thread the pieces onto the skewers, alternating with lemon slices.
- Heat a pan and lightly grease it with butter. Gently place the lemon chicken tikka skewers on the pan and cook until the chicken is tender and slightly charred. Brush the skewers with melted butter and a little extra lemon juice for added flavor.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the skewers and serve hot with mint chutney and onion rings.
Your delicious lemon chicken tikka is now ready to enjoy!
