The Walt Disney Company has officially announced the release schedule for two highly anticipated sequels set to hit cinemas in summer 2028. Fans can look forward to the continuation of two beloved franchises with Lilo & Stitch 2 and Incredibles 3 arriving just weeks apart.
The announcement was made by incoming Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, confirming that Lilo and Stitch 2 is scheduled for release on May 26 2028. The film will serve as a follow up to the successful live action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch, which gained massive popularity worldwide.
Director Dean Fleischer Camp, who led the recent remake, played a key role in bringing the franchise back to life. Meanwhile Chris Sanders, the original creator and voice behind Stitch, is set to return as the writer for the sequel, adding continuity and authenticity to the story.
Shortly after the release of Lilo and Stitch 2 audiences will also see the return of Pixar’s superhero family with Incredibles 3 arriving on June 16 2028. The film will be directed by Peter Sohn, known for his work on Elemental, taking over from Brad Bird, who directed the previous two installments.
The Incredibles franchise has remained one of Pixar’s most successful series since the original film debuted in 2004 followed by its sequel in 2018. With a new creative direction and returning fan interest expectations are high for the third installment.
With both films scheduled closely together Disney is set to deliver a strong lineup for summer 2028 appealing to fans of animation live action adaptations and family entertainment alike.
