Dubai unveils Al Layan Oasis a vast desert retreat with lake cinema and food truck hub

Dubai has announced an ambitious new tourism destination designed to transform the desert into a vibrant lifestyle and leisure hotspot. Known as Al Layan Oasis, the mega development will cover around one million square metres and is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year once completed.

The project was launched under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and is set to introduce a fresh concept of desert tourism that blends nature sustainability and entertainment. At the heart of Al Layan Oasis will be a striking man-made lake spanning approximately 250000 square metres creating a cooling focal point surrounded by outdoor attractions.

Visitors can look forward to an extensive network of walking and cycling tracks stretching over 14 kilometres including elevated pathways that rise five metres above ground and offer sweeping views across the oasis while connecting with existing Al Marmoom routes.

Al Layan Oasis will also feature a modern visitor centre along with an open-air cinema an outdoor theatre a lively food truck plaza children’s play areas and wide open spaces designed for relaxation and social gatherings.

The destination will be divided into four distinct zones each offering a different experience. The Camping Oasis will include space for 100 caravans and focus on environmental education. The Family Oasis will provide rest areas play zones and integrated facilities for all ages. The Gathering Oasis will act as an entertainment hub with an amphitheatre cinema and event spaces while the Recreation Oasis will host activities retail outlets and services set within a natural sustainable landscape.

With around 1000 parking spaces and capacity to welcome an estimated 330000 visitors annually the project is also opening significant opportunities for private investors with more than 365000 square metres allocated for commercial participation.

Al Layan Oasis forms part of Dubai’s wider Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030 which aims to expand green areas plant millions of trees and introduce new parks across the emirate supporting wellbeing healthy lifestyles and stronger community connections.
