Final Season of ‘And Just Like That’: Sarah Jessica Parker Says Goodbye to Carrie Bradshaw as HBO Ends Series

Date:

HBO has officially announced that And Just Like That will end with its third season, marking the close of an era for the iconic Sex and the City franchise. The final season, consisting of 12 episodes, will conclude on August 14, 2025, as confirmed by series showrunner Michael Patrick King. As the show nears its finale, HBO Max’s platforms made the announcement public, signaling the emotional departure of Carrie Bradshaw.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who has embodied Carrie Bradshaw for 27 years, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram expressing her gratitude and deep emotional connection to the character. She called Carrie the heartbeat of her professional journey and reflected on the incredible experience of portraying her. Parker described working on And Just Like That as both joyful and creatively fulfilling, acknowledging the team and the fans who have supported the series through its evolution.

Showrunner Michael Patrick King noted that while developing the final episode, it became evident that this was the perfect moment to conclude Carrie’s story. The decision to end the series was made collaboratively with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys, and Sarah Aubrey. The finale will be presented in two parts, aiming to give a complete and meaningful conclusion to the character’s journey.

The franchise, which began with Sex and the City in 1998, included six original seasons, two feature films, and a prequel series, The Carrie Diaries. In 2021, And Just Like That brought back beloved characters Carrie, Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), as they navigated life and relationships in their fifties. Though Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha, did not return as a lead, she made a brief appearance in the second season through a text exchange.

The third season also introduced fresh characters such as Seema (Sarita Choudhury) and LTW (Nicole Ari Parker), offering a broader narrative perspective. Carrie’s storyline this season involved a romantic reunion with Aidan (John Corbett), which eventually ended in heartbreak. The writers have suggested that this separation is likely final, returning Carrie to her original identity — single and independent in New York City.

Although And Just Like That has received mixed critical reception and generated significant social media discussion, it has consistently maintained strong weekly viewership. Loyal fans have continued to engage with the show, making it a cultural touchpoint once again.
