French Scientist Reveals Simple 5–10 Minute Post-Meal Exercise to Control Blood Sugar Spikes

Date:

Managing blood sugar levels is often a challenge for people with diabetes or anyone prone to glucose fluctuations. French biochemist and bestselling author Jessie Inchauspé recently shared a simple yet powerful method to minimize post-meal blood sugar spikes. In her social media post on August 25, she highlighted that a short session of calf raises lasting just 5–10 minutes after eating can significantly improve glucose control.

How Calf Raises Help Reduce Glucose Spikes

According to Jessie, after consuming carb-heavy meals like pasta or pastries, simply place your feet flat on the ground, then repeatedly lift your heels up and down. This action activates the soleus muscle in the calf, which helps absorb glucose from the bloodstream. She explained, “This simple move can be done anywhere – at your desk, at school, or even in the kitchen. It’s discreet, easy, and effective.”

Backed by Scientific Study

Jessie referred to a study titled “A Potent Physiological Method to Magnify and Sustain Cellulose Oxidative Metabolism Improves Glucose and Lipid Regulation.” In this research, participants performed calf raises for several hours, which resulted in a 52% reduction in blood sugar spikes and a 60% decrease in excess insulin production. While the study involved extended exercise, Jessie clarified that even 5–10 minutes is enough to make a difference.

Benefits Beyond Glucose Control

She further shared her own self-testing, comparing blood sugar response after eating a chocolate pastry with and without calf raises. The results showed a much lower spike when the exercise was included. Jessie emphasized that this is a simple lifestyle habit anyone can try without equipment or a gym, making it one of the most practical tips for diabetes prevention, blood sugar balance, and metabolic health.
