The latest edition of the GLAAD Media Awards celebrated outstanding storytelling and inclusive representation across film television music journalism and digital media. The prestigious event took place at the The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles bringing together some of the biggest names in entertainment and media.
Hosted by actor Jonathan Bennett the ceremony recognized more than 30 categories honoring projects that highlight fair and accurate representation of LGBTQ communities in global entertainment and journalism.
Among the standout winners of the night was the HBO series Heated Rivalry which won the award for Outstanding New TV Series. The hugely popular Netflix sci-fi drama Stranger Things also received top recognition after winning Outstanding Drama Series while Palm Royale secured the award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
In film categories the musical drama Kiss of the Spider Woman earned the prize for Outstanding Film in wide theatrical release while the independent romantic comedy A Nice Indian Boy shared the Limited Theatrical Release category with the drama Plainclothes. Meanwhile the streaming film Queen of Coal won in the Outstanding Film Streaming or TV category.
Reality television also had its moment during the ceremony with The Traitors winning Outstanding Reality Competition Program while Southern Hospitality claimed the award for Outstanding Reality Program.
Music honors were awarded to Puerto Rican artist Young Miko whose album Do Not Disturb won Outstanding Music Artist. Rising global girl group KATSEYE was recognized as Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist marking a major moment for the group.
The event also featured several special honors celebrating influential voices in entertainment. Actress and creator Quinta Brunson received the Vanguard Award for her contributions to LGBTQ representation while podcast hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers were presented with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award for their advocacy and visibility within the community.
The ceremony opened with a musical performance by Demi Lovato adding star power to the celebration. For viewers who missed the event live the 37th edition of the GLAAD Media Awards will be available for streaming on Hulu starting March 21.
Overall the awards once again highlighted the importance of inclusive storytelling and celebrated creators who continue to push forward representation across global entertainment platforms.
