Google is gearing up to introduce a new smart speaker, reportedly called the Google Home Speaker, during its upcoming announcements. The device is expected to feature immersive 360-degree audio, delivering a richer sound experience for users. A recent APK teardown of the latest Google Home app revealed the possible name and hints at exciting features for the new speaker, alongside a rebranding of Nest Aware to Google Home Premium.
The Google Home Speaker name was identified by 9to5Google from the APK of Google Home app version 3.41 for Android. The code mentions a feature described as “Enjoy 360 audio on the Google Home Speaker,” indicating built-in 360-degree audio support. This move also reflects Google’s shift away from the Nest branding seen in devices such as Nest Mini, Nest Audio, and Nest Hub, returning to the Google Home naming style used for Home, Home Mini, and Home Max.
In addition to the new speaker, the APK teardown suggests upcoming Gemini updates for Google Home devices, AI-powered event summaries, 2K video support for Nest Cams and Doorbells, and enhanced integration with Google’s ecosystem. The teaser at the Made by Google 2025 event featured a sphere-shaped smart speaker with a light ring at its base, available in bright red, light green, black, and porcelain colors.
The Google Home Speaker is expected to launch alongside the Gemini updates on October 1, marking the official unveiling of Google’s latest smart home innovation.
