Historic Jasprit Bumrah Milestone Rewrites Indian Cricket Records With Iconic 100th T20I Wicket

Date:

Jasprit Bumrah created a defining moment in Indian cricket by securing his 100th T20I wicket during India’s dominant 101-run victory over South Africa in the opening match of the five-game T20I series in Cuttack. With this achievement, he became the first Indian bowler in history to reach 100 wickets in T20Is and only the fifth cricketer globally to record 100 or more wickets across Tests ODIs and T20Is. The milestone came when Bumrah dismissed Dewald Brevis a wicket that sealed his place among the most elite multi-format bowlers.

India’s strong total of 175/6 set the tone before the bowlers dismantled South Africa for just 74 their lowest-ever T20I total. Bumrah delivered a brilliant spell finishing with 2/17 and showcasing why he remains India’s most formidable bowling weapon heading into T20 World Cup 2026. His all-format numbers now stand at 234 Test wickets 149 ODI wickets and 101 T20I wickets a remarkable testament to his consistency accuracy and match-winning ability.

This achievement places Bumrah in a rare club previously occupied only by Lasith Malinga Shakib Al Hasan Tim Southee and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Among them Bumrah becomes India’s first representative reflecting not only his excellence but also his evolution into one of the world’s most feared fast bowlers. His milestone continues to elevate his legacy and strengthens India’s hopes as they prepare for another major ICC event in 2026.
