Honor’s upcoming Robot Phone has resurfaced online, giving tech fans a closer look at one of the most unusual smartphone designs expected to debut at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026. The company previewed the device during the Honor User Carnival in China, showcasing its standout feature — a robotic gimbal-stabilised camera that slides out from the rear module and automatically tracks subjects using AI.
The concept phone was first introduced earlier this year during the Magic 8 launch event, but newly leaked live images on Weibo offer the most detailed view yet. The device was displayed inside a protective glass enclosure and appears in three colour variants — Black White and Gold — with options for a leather or glass back panel depending on the finish.
The Robot Phone’s overall aesthetic blends design cues from the Honor Magic 8 series and the iPhone 17 Pro featuring a flat frame rounded edges and a smooth camera housing. Beneath the main camera island sits a glass-like section that seamlessly hides the robotic gimbal system. When activated the camera arm extends outward allowing it to pivot rotate and stabilise footage like a professional handheld gimbal using advanced AI algorithms.
This movable camera is expected to appeal strongly to vloggers and creators seeking stable hands-free footage without extra gear. Interestingly the rotating module appears to include a USB Type-C connector possibly intended for external accessories. A second USB Type-C port is located on the phone’s bottom frame indicating additional connectivity options.
Honor has not confirmed launch timelines or commercial availability for the Robot Phone but the brand is already scheduled to present the device publicly at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. With its unconventional moving camera hardware and ambitious AI-driven features the Robot Phone signals Honor’s push into experimental smartphone innovation well ahead of mainstream competitors.
