Huawei has officially introduced the Mate 70 Air in China, expanding its premium smartphone series with a focus on sleek styling and long battery life. The handset stands out with an extremely slim 6.6mm profile while packing a large 6500mAh battery. It is available in multiple memory configurations, offering up to 16GB of RAM and as much as 512GB of internal storage. Huawei is offering the smartphone in three finish options including Obsidian Black, Feathered White, and a Gold and Silver Brocade variant.
The Mate 70 Air features a 7-inch Full HD Plus AMOLED display delivering a high touch sampling rate of up to 300Hz and 2160Hz PWM dimming for smooth interaction and reduced flicker. Performance is handled by Kirin processors where the 16GB RAM model uses the Kirin 9020A chip and the 12GB RAM versions are powered by the Kirin 9020B. Huawei’s HarmonyOS 5.1 runs on the device.
For photography, the handset sports a quad rear camera system highlighted by a 50 megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilisation along with a 12 megapixel telephoto sensor also supporting OIS. An 8 megapixel ultrawide lens and a 1.5 megapixel multi spectral colour camera complete the setup. On the front is a 10.7 megapixel selfie lens. Video shooting goes up to 4K resolution and users get features such as AI enhanced imaging, HDR, slow motion and time lapse modes.
Connectivity includes dual band Wi Fi Bluetooth 5.2 NFC GPS NavIC and USB Type C. There is a side fingerprint scanner plus several onboard sensors including gyroscope and ambient light detection. The device is certified with IP68 and IP69 ratings for enhanced water and dust protection. It weighs around 208g and measures 165 by 81.5 by 6.6mm. The Mate 70 Air supports 66W wired charging but does not include wireless charging technology.
Huawei Mate 70 Air pricing in China begins at CNY 4199 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The variants with 12GB + 512GB or 16GB + 256GB are listed at CNY 4699 while the top configuration with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at CNY 5199. The device is now available for pre order through Huawei’s online store.
