Is New Year’s Eve a Public Holiday in Dubai 2025

Date:

Dubai is gearing up for one of the most exciting days of the year as the city prepares to welcome New Year’s Eve on Wednesday December 31, 2025. While the emirate will host massive parties fireworks displays and live concerts featuring international artists, New Year’s Eve is not officially a public holiday in the UAE.

Under the UAE Public Holiday law introduced in 2025, each emirate can designate additional holidays, but it is unlikely that December 31 will be added. Nonetheless, January 1, 2026, is an official public holiday, giving residents and visitors a day off to continue celebrating into the new year.

Despite not being an official day off, many Dubai businesses allow staff to leave early to navigate road closures and changes to public transport schedules, which are implemented annually to manage the influx of visitors. The Roads and Transport Authority is expected to announce extended operating hours for the Dubai Metro and Tram, along with modified bus routes, to accommodate NYE crowds.

Whether you plan to join the city’s vibrant celebrations or enjoy a quieter evening, New Year’s Eve in Dubai remains a unique and festive working day, setting the stage for one of the most spectacular countdowns in the region.
