Jannik Sinner delivered a dominant performance in the Wimbledon 2025 semi-final, defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-3 6-3 6-4 to secure his place in the final. The 22-year-old Italian star was clinical throughout the match while Djokovic struggled with his fitness and movement, likely impacted by an injury he picked up during his quarter-final clash with Flavio Cobolli. Djokovic, now 38, cancelled a training session prior to the semi-final and appeared a shadow of his former self on Centre Court.
Speaking after the match, Sinner acknowledged the Serbian legend’s physical struggles played a part in the one-sided result but credited his own composure and serve. “I served really well today and felt amazing on court. I know in the third set we saw Novak was dealing with something, but I just focused on playing my best tennis and staying calm in the key moments,” Sinner said. He added that the moment felt extra special with his father and brother present to witness him reach his first Wimbledon final.
Looking ahead, Sinner now faces world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday’s final, setting up another mouth-watering showdown between two of tennis’ brightest young stars. The Italian will be seeking revenge for his recent French Open final defeat to Alcaraz but remains full of admiration for the Spaniard. “It’s always an honour to share the court with Carlos. He pushes me to the limit. We know what an incredible talent he is. Hopefully we can put on a match as exciting as the last one,” said Sinner, who leads their only previous grass-court meeting at Wimbledon back in 2022.
The Italian trails 4-8 in the ATP head-to-head against Alcaraz but will take confidence from his sharper grass-court form as he aims to lift his first Wimbledon trophy. Fans can expect an electric final when these two modern greats collide once again.
